John was a good friend and a great musician.  We spent many a weekends discussing the merits of the Beach Boys vs. the Beatles over a Falstaff or PBR.  Even got stuck one evening plowing snow drifts in my '55 Buick.  Those were some times not forgotten.  While in the service in Japan, he sent me an "air check" of his radio show in Colorado Springs along with a lot of oldies.  He was taken much too soon, as were some of our other classmates.  Miss them all.

During a "small world" incident at the Epcot Center in Florida (circa 1975), we (my father, wife, daughter and myself) ran into John Cooper's Mother and Father. We talked about John and times I had spent with him growing up. It was very unusual to meet up with John's parents in Florida in that very large Epcot Center. It was even more unusual to have recognized Mrs. Cooper (I had never met Mr. Cooper). This chance meeting took place about two years after John had died of a very sudden heart attack at the age of 28. It was how I found out John had died. Besides our time at DHS, John was also a classmate at St. Mary's. This chance meeting and the information it provided about John was extremely weird.
